There’s no better day than today, for it is the “tomorrow” and the “future” you talked about

Live Your Someday Today

Remember when you said, “I wish I had this and that?” or “someday I will do abcd…?” Remember some of the things you prayed for? Do you have them now? Chances are, it is a “yes” for some.

That is because that someday finally came!

See, when I was in college, I’d often remember my teenage years, and one of the most significant ones was when I started my period. I remember I didn’t have much of the hand-holding I should have had. I kinda figured out things on my own and had some massive embarrassments. So later, I told myself, “Someday when I have a job, I’ll buy a big box of uncountable packs of sanitary towels for myself, and I’ll always have that box at any given time.” I’ve never purchased that box, but I can afford it, and I occasionally bless a girl or two with a pack. Also, I have enough knowledge, which I use to empower young girls on life skills so they don’t feel lost like I did.

And so I just realized my “someday” came. I’m living it now. And I have many other someday’s that I’ve been living, but not conscious of that fact. Nonetheless, other somedays have remained to be just that; a wish. I still build castles in the air, oblivious of the fact that the someday will not manifest without action. And that I have many opportunities to make them come true. But most importantly, I’m probably living a someday today, and I can make every day my someday, or a chance to work on making every someday come true.

But what does it take?

Realize that today is that someday you mentioned. The one you said you’d use to achieve something. Once you do that, you’ll make every day your someday and clock in all the wishes, plans, ambitions, and bucket lists.

It takes realizing that today is the best day of your life. Because you’ve never had it before, you have an opportunity to:
Do that which you planned for,
Correct yesterday’s mistakes,
Clock in that workout you missed yesterday or tick off that item on your to-do list that you didn’t do.

It’s another chance to:
Right the wrongs,
Explore your potential,
Tap into your power, Recite and tap into those affirmations,
And transform the rest of your life.

There’s only one day in a year on which you can do something; today. In the same breath from Mahatma Gandhi’s wisdom, “There are two days in a year that we cannot do anything, yesterday and tomorrow.”

It’s possible and tempting to get stuck in yesterday. Wallow in the consequences of your mistakes and regret. But you can’t change what already happened. Indeed, looking at yesterday is important, for how will you adapt the momentum of continuance that should be drawn from wanting to progress from where you already reached?

However,

For a successful continuance, sometimes, you need to put yesterday aside for a moment. Look at today in isolation, as a completely new day. One in which you can rewrite your story, have a renewed mindset, refreshed goals, more fire in your ambition, more bounce in your stride, and an improvement of yesterday’s ideas with hope for a better tomorrow.

Suppose I were to take Paul Newman’s quote, “Choose between yesterday and tomorrow” literally; I’d pick the one in between; today.

Only then…

Only then can you have a renewed spirit, passion, and a new way of looking at things. Then you can relook at yesterday and know what to improve and take on today. Then you can go back to the continuance, make the connection and improve or rewrite your story.

But first,

You must be aware that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Make it count!
