Sometimes I Want to Outrun Myself

Turns Out It’s a Lifetime’s Race and I’m Stuck With Me

Sometimes I want to run….
….Run away from myself
And I jog and run and run…and run some more
And when I can’t run anymore, I realise I am still with me…
So it turns out I can’t outrun myself…
Apparently, I can’t run out of my skin…
Neither can I shed it off…The only time I ever wished I was a snake…Who would have thought?!
Confucius was right!…

“And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”-Confucius.

Alas! I can’t take a break from myself!
Sometimes I want to crawl….
Out of my skin..
Sometimes I want to take a break from my own life, but….
But it won’t let me…
“Darling, We’re stuck with each other”…
…“For life”, it tells me….
“But can’t I just have a short vacation?”, I ask
Answer has never been yes!… I guess it never will be.
“My shadow could hold the fort”….Still a no-no!

Then I’m only left with me
To talk to…have meetings and conversations with and make peace with…
Turns out I have to figure out how to coexist with me
Turns out no one can pull me out of my train wreck
Turns out this circus is mine and I am my monkey to babysit

Well then…
I guess we’ll try and figure out how to live happily ever after
Amid life’s ups and downs….
As none of us is going anywhere without the other!

“I’ve finally stopped running away from myself, who else is there better to be?”-Golden Hawn.
