Depends on the cultural/traditional background of one’s upbringing. And the fact that some grow up with that burden having been hammered into their life from birth. It’s not that one walks into it knowingly, but rather because they grow up not knowing otherwise, they think that’s how life works and that every other person is doing the same. And when they finally find out the truth it’s probably way into their adulthood and it has already eaten into them so deep
